Curriculum

Goals

At UPCC, our flexible, child-centered program adapts to each learner’s needs and
interests.  Children experience a
balanced day that includes indoor and outdoor exploration, quiet and active
play, individual and group activities, and both child-led and educator-guided
learning. 

UPCC
strives to meet the following goals for each child:

Promote a respect for the cultural diversity of staff, children and their families.

Be responsive to individual family home values, beliefs, experiences and language as -well as to the individual learning needs of all children.

Foster a positive self-concept.

Develop social-emotional skills.

Encourage language and cognitive development.

Encourage children to think, reason, question, and experiment.

Encourage and demonstrate sound health, safety, and nutritional practices.

Enhance physical development and skills.

Encourage creative expression, music and appreciation for the arts.

Support early spiritual formation based on trust, concern for and acceptance of others.

Support the child’s connection to and appreciation for the natural world.

Daily Program

We nurture the whole child – mind, body, and spirit – by creating a joyful environment, offering stimulating experiences, encouraging independence and confidence, and building strong, trusting relationships with families. Nature-inspired classrooms and playgrounds at UPCC are set up as learning centers with planned curriculum to promote:
