Rainbow Welcome
If you are looking for a place to connect, engage in advocacy, learn together, or just be, Rainbow Welcome is a community for you. Our mission is to more fully reflect University Presbyterian Church (UPC) in the embrace of our Welcome Statement, as we create time and space where all people can fully express their God-given identities. As a coalition of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender or gender-expansive, queer, or questioning (LGBTQIA+) people and allies, we relate from our own lives with UPC’s motto that faith is a journey, not an arrival.
In following the Way of Jesus of Nazareth to be a church of radical hospitality and love, we affirm that all are beloved children of God. In cultivating a spirit of welcome and acceptance, we engage in advocacy to make our city and state a more compassionate home to all people, knowing that local efforts are for the good of our global community.
In our welcome, we are grateful for the training, help, support, and advocacy of That All May Freely Serve, More Light Presbyterians, and The Covenant Network of Presbyterians, organizations that have accompanied us on our journey toward full inclusion and remain our faithful partners in ministry..

UPC works in close relationship with PRO SA Progressive Religious Organizations of San Antonio as we help cultivate compassion the City of San Antonio and beyond. We are thankful for our interfaith and interdenominational partners whom we consider our siblings.
