As an Earth Care Congregation we...
Led and supported a wide range of sustainability and community care efforts, including securing funding for a solar carport project through congregation contributions and a PC(USA) loan. Implemented renewable energy and energy efficiency measures, such as solar panel installation and LED lighting upgrades. Promoted environmental education and engagement through Earth Day celebrations, worship services, adult and youth education series, and inclusion of Native American prayers and music.
Expanded outdoor and hybrid worship during COVID-19, encouraged outdoor worship and activities, and supported online worship development. Fostered community and ecological stewardship through local park cleanups, recycling evaluation, composting programs, butterfly gardens, planters for children, and the installation of bicycle racks and earthworm beds. Partnered with local environmental initiatives like Mission Compost and the SoL Center’s Green ’19 program, and incorporated climate action discussions into church education.
